For decades, child wasting and stunting have been approached as separate conditions. The WaSt TIG was set up in 2014 to explore the relationship between child wasting and stunting, fill gaps in evidence, and communicate what needs to change as a result, to improve services and systems for malnourished children and their families. The below infographics summarise the evidence built by the WaSt TIG and others over the last 10 years for a relationship between child wasting and stunting and highlight the implications of that for research, policy and programmes.

  1. This infographic summarises the evidence for a relationship between child wasting and stunting that has key implications for approaches to undernutrition.
  2. This infographic summarises the actions that can be taken by Policy Makers, Donors,  Programme Designers and Implementers, and Researchers to consider wasting and stunting approaches together in order to improving service and systems for malnourished children and their families.
