Training on Public Health in Complex Emergencies

The Public Health in Complex Emergencies course (PHCE) is a two-week residential course designed to strengthen the public health skills and knowledge of NGO staff, District Medical Officers and other Ministry of Health staff working in regions affected by complex emergencies, as well as for international and governmental staff involved in planning services for affected populations.

Dates and venues for 2006 are:

  • May 8-20, 2006: Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, Thailand
  • November 2006: Institute of Public Health, Makerere University, Uganda

As part of the PHCE goal to institutionalise these courses at regional centres, the admission process is now be handled by the regional partners (formerly handled by the International Rescue Committee).
