Publication details

The messages that the media present about the needs of infants and young children in emergencies can have a far-reaching impact. Members of the public, NGOs and donor agencies want to assist babies. Giving them good information about infant and young child feeding in emergencies will help to prevent harmful practices and help to protect the most vulnerable from illness and death.

The purpose of these resources is to provide guidance for anyone involved in humanitarian assistance who produces communications on behalf of an organisation (e.g. press releases, social media, fund raising appeals) or engages with the media (e.g. interviews). They aim to support communications experts to provide accurate information that protects and supports infants and young children and their caregivers and reduces harmful interventions.

The translation to Japanese was done by the IYCF Support Network in Japan.
